Electric Vehicles (EV) Cost Less To Operate Than Gas Powered Cars.

EV operation can be three to five times cheaper than gasoline and diesel powered cars, depending on your local gasoline and electric rates.

EVs Are Environmentally Friendly.

EVs have no tailpipe emissions. The power plant producing your electricity may produce emissions, but electricity from hydro, solar, nuclear or wind-powered plants is generally emission-free.

Never Go To The Gas Station Again.

Electric vehicles do not require gasoline and can be charged at home with a standard 120V outlet or a 240V level 2 charger can be installed for faster, more efficient charging.

EV Performance Benefits.

Electric motors provide quiet, smooth operation, stronger acceleration and require less maintenance than gasoline powered internal combustion engines.

EV Driving Range & Recharge Time.

EV range is typically around 80 to over 300 miles on a full charge. The average American’s daily round-trip commute is less than 30 miles. Fully recharging the battery pack can take four to eight hours. A "fast charge" to 80% capacity can take 30 min.*

More Efficient, Cleaner and Less Expensive; Electric Vehicles Advance the TVA Mission

This website is designed to provide you with information about Electric Vehicles (EVs), their many benefits and current limitations. Since the 2011 introduction of the first wave of modern EVs, over one million Americans have made the switch from cars that need gas stations to cars that need CHARGING stations! EVs are efficient, cleaner for the environment and cheaper to operate than gasoline powered vehicles. This means EVs very much complement the TVA Mission of providing safe, clean, reliable and affordable electricity; being environmental stewards; and supporting economic development across seven states in the Tennessee Valley.

As it turns out, our region is a great place to own an EV! Over half of all energy produced by TVA comes from carbon free sources such as nuclear, hydroelectric dams and renewable sources like wind and solar. The remainder comes from natural gas and coal plants that have dramatically reduced emissions through TVA’s investments in environmental controls.

Explore this website help you determine if an electric vehicle is right for you by learning more about the benefits of EVs, information about vehicles on the market today, how and where you can charge an electric vehicle and much more.
